Call for ALS Board of Directors!
Your opportunity to give back to Indigenous communities in the GTA.
The ALS Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers supporting the mission and goals of Aboriginal Legal Services: to strengthen the capacity of the Indigenous community and its citizens to deal with justice issues and provide Indigenous controlled and culturally based justice alternatives.
Aboriginal Legal Services was established on February 21, 1990. As one of the leading charities supporting Indigenous people and communities and a national leader in Indigenous justice and advocacy, ALS has over 70 employees, 13 offices, and serves over 2,500 clients each year.
The Board is responsible for setting out the path of ALS and ensuring its continued journey. The Board of Directors are engaged meaningfully on all aspects of running a not-for-profit, including reviewing and approving financial statements, setting out policy paths, carrying out fundraising initiatives, or otherwise. The Board also participates in strategic planning for the organization and oversees senior personnel management to further the organization’s goals and capacity.
Board Members are routinely expected to participate in Board Committees in areas where their skills best match: fundraising, finance, external relations, policy, governance, or others.
Applications are now open to stand as a candidate for election to the ALS Board of Directors.
